We’re constantly striving to make totaljobs.com a better website, for jobseekers and recruiters alike. And with constant innovation, that’s just what we do.
Here are some of our recent developments, and what they mean for recruiters:
Facebook jobsearch
The new totaljobs.com job search function within
Facebook has been developed to increase the reach of your adverts. With 23 million UK users, Facebook gives us the opportunity to increase the number of potential candidates seeing your advert, giving you an extended audience.
Jobseekers can use the Facebook search page in the same way that they search for a job on totaljobs.com – using keywords and locations. The search results and job details pages all appear within Facebook and then when people click to apply it redirects them back to your advert on totaljobs.com.
LinkedIn integration
In order to help you match candidates to your
vacancies, totaljobs.com have launched a LinkedIn widget allowing you to see where you have LinkedIn connections with a candidate.
As matching the right candidate to your role becomes more and more important, the role of personal referrals is growing. This widget allows you to see connections and gain referrals, enabling you to get more information about a candidate before you contact them.
For example, you’re searching the candidate database and come across a candidate “Joe Bloggs”, Our widget highlights to you that you are connected to Joe Bloggs through Jane Doe who is your LinkedIn connection. You can then contact Jane to gain feedback on Joe Bloggs and see if he’s right for you.
Jobseekers can use the LinkedIn widget to see what connections they have at the company they’re interested in, allowing them to gain a better understanding of the organisation before they apply. This means that candidates will be better informed about your organisation, making them already aligned to your organisation’s values and structure.
Job title quality
We asked our jobseekers what would turn them off
applying for a job and one of the most given answers was badly written job titles. Use of asterisks, caps lock and unnecessary words like “WANTED” can give the impression of spam and mean that applicants quickly move on to the next vacancy.
Our latest Job Title Quality function gives you guidance on how to avoid this by producing a professional looking, informative job ad that will make jobseekers want to find out more about your job.
If you supply a job title which our research shows may put off potential applicants, you’ll see a pop up which provides advice on how to amend it to make it as attractive as possible, helping to ensure your role appeals to candidates.
For jobseekers, the intention is that they will see a professional looking job board full of concise, informative job titles. It will also help ensure that jobs with titles and descriptions most relevant to jobseekers’ needs are returned in search results.

Our mobile platform allows jobseekers to job hunt on the move. With simple search functionality, the ability to set up jobs by email and apply directly through the mobile site, our jobseekers are never far away from your jobs!

Salary checker
This is a great way for jobseekers to explore the salary they could expect for their chosen role.
For you, it’s a chance to see how the salaries you offer for your roles compare with our average. Enter an industry sector or job role, along with a location, and we’ll tell you the average salary for that job type. We’ll also show you whether it’s gone up or down compared to the previous month, and what a high and low salary for that job would look like.
